Wat Saket or the Golden Mountain is best known for its 80 meter height hill location. It was once the highest peak of Bangkok. It was built long ago before Rattanakosin Kingdom. To reach the peak of the Golden Mountain, you will have to climb 318 steps; however, along the way you will see a line of large prayer bells. Buddhists like to strike them for good luck, happiness and peace. You will experience ring tones all the way up to the top. Once being there, you can observe 360 degrees panorama view of Bangkok.
Location: 344 Boripat Road, Ban Bat, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Bangkok 10100 (500 meters East of Victory Monument in the center of Thanon Ratchadamnoen Klang and almost opposite Fort Mahakan and the Wat Ratchanadda.
Operating hours: 8:00 am – 17:00 pm
Admission fee for foreigners: 10 Baht.
Important note: Make sure you wear appropriate clothing. Pants or dress/skirt must extend knee length. Top has to fully cover shoulders. No bare foot.
How to get there from KMUTT: The best way to get there is by Uber or Taxi.
By bus: Take bus no.21 from KMUTT to Worachak stop. Get off and walk along Worachak Road until you reach Chakkawat Road. Walk along Chakkawat and you will direct to Boripat Road. The temple will be on your right.
